Twitter?

I was at a party on Christmas Eve and during a conversation with the mother of my son's friend, I learned that she, and I had no idea, had a face book page, my space, bebo, twitter and all of that stuff. I had no idea and further more who has the time and why? Do people do it for friendship? Virtual friendship? I can'd see doing it. I really gotta wonder why people do it.

  1. It would be interesting to ask some of your students those questions when you get back to school. I once saw two friends sitting outside in the quad texting. When I asked them who they were texting - they said each other. Why?
They just said it was fun. Go figure.

  2. I have many of those kinds of accounts because I want to be relevant in the 21st Century and not left behind. For that matter, when looking for jobs in California, many require web 2.0 skills, including online communications and virtual team experience.

When I get older or wheelchair bound, I'd like to communicate with my friends and family across the country and globe using a slim, trim, stylish avatar.
